The Seattle Seahawks may not have a veteran wide receiver in their upcoming game because of…

In Week 6 against the Cincinnati Bengals, veteran wide receiver Darius Slayton will once again be the top receiving target after the New York Giants officially ruled out standout rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers for the second straight game while he recovers from a concussion.

In Week 5, Darius Slayton was outstanding for the Giants.
Last week against the Seattle Seahawks, Slayton gave the G-men a solid effort just when they needed it. That game, Slayton pulled in eight catches as Nabers was benched.

The Giants’ incredible upset victory over the Seattle Seahawks in Week 5 was largely due to his efforts. In a crucial game against the struggling Bengals, Slayton will try to accomplish the same thing as the Giants try to raise their record to 3-3.

NFL: New York Giants at Seattle Seahawks

Similar to the last game, Slayton and Wan’Dale Robinson are probably going to be the primary players in the passing game. In Week 5 against Seattle, Robinson caught six passes for 36 yards and a score. Interestingly, despite facing a formidable Seahawks defense, those 36 yards were the second-lowest he had in a single game this season.

Another great game for Slayton is made possible by the Bengals’ poor pass rush.
However, the Seahawks’ formidable defense is superior to that of the Bengals. Cincinnati is presently the eighth-worst team in the NFL with a PFF pass coverage grade of 56.2. Furthermore, with a pass rush score of 51.5, the Bengals have the second-worst pass rush in the league—only the Carolina Panthers have a lower rating.

That raises Slayton’s prospects of playing a key role in the Giants’ offensive scheme in Week 6. The veteran had not collected more than five targets in either of the team’s first four games this season, making him almost a non-factor in the offensive game plan until Week 5. He also tallied a touchdown and a team-high 122 yards.
