Cameron Sutton of the Steelers receives a significant suspension update
As the season draws to a close, the Pittsburgh Steelers already boast one of the NFL’s top defenses, and they may soon see the return of another important player. NFL insider Jordan Schultz reports that cornerback Cameron Sutton, who has been serving an eight-game ban, was reinstated on Tuesday.
“Steelers CB Cameron Sutton has been officially reinstated and his eight-game suspension has been lifted,” Schultz said on X, previously Twitter.
Sutton was suspended from the league for breaking its personal conduct rules after being accused of domestic abuse this summer.
The Tennessee graduate played for the Detroit Lions in 2023 after spending the first six seasons of his career in Pittsburgh. During his tenure with the Steelers, he established himself as a dependable secondary option. Throughout his career, he has recorded 44 pass breakups and nine interceptions. Sutton had his greatest season with the Steelers in 2022, catching three passes and recording 15 PBUs.
The Steelers signed Sutton to a one-year contract this offseason as a result of his performance. When he recovers, Sutton should still be a significant contributor to the secondary, which now has second-year star Joey Porter Jr. as its top corner. Since the Steelers have Week 9 off before playing again, he will have a couple weeks to do so. November 10

The Steelers are more dynamic now that they have a new quarterback.
Mike Tomlin made the somewhat contentious decision to make a quarterback change prior to the Steelers’ Week 7 matchup with the New York Jets. Russell Wilson, who suffered from a calf issue early in the season, was benched against Justin Fields even though Tomlin’s team was 4-2.
