Five potential trade targets for the Carolina Panthers following Diontae Johnson’s departure

After being sidelined against the Denver Broncos in Week 8, it appeared that the Carolina Panthers will trade wide receiver Diontae Johnson. Dan Morgan, the general manager, was chastised for paying for the privilege and getting virtually nothing in return, but he believed it was worth it to pay the player’s remaining contract in order to rid the team of this issue.

Another Panthers player who departed when there was still more meat on the bone was Johnson. Now, the Pro Bowl pass-catcher will try to assist the Baltimore Ravens overcome their current setback. After being sent to the NFL’s bottom feeder earlier this season, that’s not a horrible place to wind up.

The focus instantly shifted to the players who may be the next to be fired. According to reports, standout cornerback Jaycee Horn and running back Chuba Hubbard aren’t going away. If the proper offers are made, the Panthers aren’t done selling their assets.

In light of this, these five Panthers players may be moved next following Johnson’s hurried departure.

Players for the Carolina Panthers who may be moved next following Diontae Johnson’s departure: Miles Sanders RB with the Carolina Panthers
This season, Miles Sanders is performing far better. Behind Chuba Hubbard, the seasoned running back has settled into a complimentary position, helping to the passing game and making an impact when needed. All things considered, though, he appears to be among the most disposable.

Next spring, Sanders is a top contender for a wage cap decrease. Before the second-round rookie is forced to miss the full season, Jonathan Brooks has one more week to be activated. If the Texas product is ready to start, the former Penn State star may be demoted to No. 3 on the running back depth chart since there is little possibility of that given the commotion that would accompany it.

One can only speculate as to whether Sanders would be of significant interest. The Carolina Panthers would have to accept additional pay commitments in exchange for a late-round pick or maybe even a pick swap. However, for someone who will not be a part of the team’s future, anything is better than nothing.
