Free agency may result in the loss of a veteran cornerback for the Detroit Lions.
Matt Holder, an NFL analyst and expert who works for Bleacher Report, described the crash-and-burn feeling that the Las Vegas Raiders are experiencing right now in a feature article that was published on November 4.

In light of the fact that Vegas has already lost five games in a row, Holder stated that there is not much cause for optimism regarding the team’s future. “After trading away Davante Adams earlier this season, it should be expected that they’ll receive calls on some of their veterans ahead of the trade deadline.”

Holder proposed that the Raiders bring Davis into the fold during 2025 free agency.

“The Raiders’ strategy of hoping Jack Jones would live up to the hype he created over the second half of last season has not worked out,” he added. “Their hope that Jakorian Bennett would elevate his game to that of a dependable starter isn’t looking good either. Nate Hobbs is the Raiders’ finest cover guy, and he’s a free agent this offseason.”

He said, “The Raiders need a veteran starting corner who can stabilize the position. That’s precisely what Carlton Davis has done with the Lions this year. The 28-year-old has come in and provided the Lions a more consistent performer at the position and might be signed to do the same thing in Vegas.”

Time will see what shakes out and if Davis ends up with Maxx Crosby in Las Vegas.

The Detroit Lions

Potential New Cornerback Help for the Lions
As for who the Detroit Lions should bring on during 2025 free agency, Holder advises cornerback Kristian Fulton of the Los Angeles Chargers. He also gives Detroit accolades for the club’s great record, which has seen the team win six in a row and claim the No. 1 slot in NFC North standings at 7-1 moving into the second half of the season.

“It’s no secret that Detroit could use some help at cornerback,” he wrote. “While Terrion Arnold has plenty of potential, he’s stumbled out of the gates to begin his career. Also, Carlton Davis and Emmanuel Moseley are upcoming free agents.”

Holder elaborated on why he feels Fulton would be a good match, noting, “So, the front office should explore the open market for the position this spring, and Fulton will be an intriguing option as he’s revived his career in Los Angeles. Heading into this weekend, the 26-year-old has only yielded nine catches and a quarterback rating of 68.8 when targeted to earn a 79.1 coverage grade from Pro Football Focus.”TRADE ALERT: Detroit Lions Now Officially Part Ways With 2 Key Player After

During the offseason of 2024, the Detroit Lions were extremely busy, and one of the moves that they made was to bring in a veteran cornerback who had previously been a part of the Buccaneers’ National Football League championship team.

Carlton Davis was the cornerback in question. Regarding the secondary position of the Lions, the squad also brought on Terrion Arnold and Amik Robertson, which has shown to be an effective combination. Davis has a passer rating of 89.1 and has allowed completions on 60.3% of the passes that have been thrown towards him in eight games throughout the course of his career.

Davis is scheduled to become a free agent the following year, and the Scouting Department of Bleacher Report believes that he will be released from Detroit in 2025 and end up with the Las Vegas Raiders.
