An MLB insider discloses All-Star Alec Bohm is unexpectedly being placed on the trading block by the Philadelphia Phillies.
After turning down a contract offer from, the Philadelphia Phillies have now formally announced the signing of another highly experienced star.
The Philadelphia Phillies did not anticipate this to be the conclusion of the 2024 season.
The Phillies lost to the New York Mets in four games in the National League Division Series, stumbling again in the postseason after dominating baseball in the first part of the season and winning the National League East for the first time since 2011.
The Phillies’ offense failed in the postseason for the third straight year. The Phillies hit.186 with a.597 OPS and only managed 12 runs (seven in Game 2) in four NLDS games.
Too many Phillies batters kept stranding runners in scoring position and chased pitches out of the strike zone.
The Phillies collapsed following their hopes of winning the World Series.
The front staff wants to revamp the lineup for 2025, but with so many offensive players committed to lucrative contracts, there isn’t much room for flexibility.
Because of this, a first-time All-Star is reportedly up for trade, according to MLB source Jeff Passan.

Alec Bohm, a third baseman, is being made available by the Phillies, according to Passan.
This may come as a surprise given that he was selected to the All-Star team, but Bohm’s 2024 season was a tale of two halves.
Bohm slashed in 94 games throughout the season’s first half.295/.348/.482, with 70 RBI, 33 doubles, and 11 home runs. Bohm, however, regressed and slashed throughout the last 49 games.11 doubles, 27 RBI, and just four home runs in 251/.299/.382. Due to a sprain in his left hand, he was placed on the disabled list in September and had difficulty when he returned.
In the NLDS, Bohm was again benched for one game.
As top prospect Aidan Miller rises quickly through the minor levels and Bohm enters free agency following the 2026 season, the Phillies are allegedly making the first-time All-Star available.
The 28-year-old Bohm is on the trade block despite having just finished a season that was his finest ever. The Phillies are trying to reorganize their club following a humiliating postseason loss to the Mets, and even though he was a well-above-average hitter (.280/.332/.448 with 61 extra-base hits), his first-half OPS was almost 150 points better than the second half, according to Passan.
This winter, the Phillies are looking for a right-handed reliever, a power-hitting outfielder, and assistance with the back half of the rotation. After the postseason debacle, batters “should become more disciplined.”
Alex Bohm is eager to be traded by the Philadelphia Phillies.
