NASCAR: In a new contract announcement, RFK Racing names a new 2025 Cup Series driver.
For the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season, Ryan Preece will be a part of RFK Racing. Preece will join Chris Buescher and Brad Keselowski in a full-time three-car lineup, driving the No. 60 Ford Mustang. Steve Newmark, President of RFK Racing, stated, “We are excited to formally and publicly announce our expansion plans and the next step in our evolution at RFK.” “First and foremost, we would like to express our gratitude to Kroger and Tad and Jodi (Geschickter) for their vision, without which we would not be able to expand with a third car in 2025 and beyond. Their dedication to us on behalf of Kroger has not only enabled us to achieve our development goals in the ways we’ve always wanted, but it has also enabled us to keep pushing the boundaries in terms of identifying the competitive advantage required to compete at the highest level of NASCAR.
Second, while talking about this third entry, we immediately recognized Ryan Preece, and his youthful potential from the local level all the way up to the Cup Series is something that excites us going ahead. The whole RFK crew is excited for the 2025 launch of the No. 60 with Ryan Preece and our broader Kroger collaboration that includes all three of our Ford Mustangs. Preece left Stewart-Haas Racing, which shut down following the conclusion of the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season, to join RFK Racing. In 2013,
the Connecticut native debuted with Tommy Baldwin Racing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. After switching to JD Motorsports in 2016, he joined Joe Gibbs Racing in 2017 and proceeded to compete in the Xfinity Series. With a part-time schedule, Preece continued his Xfinity career in 2019 with JR Motorsports, placing in the Top 10 in each of his four races. He joined JTG Daugherty as a full-time driver in the Cup Series in 2019 and also participated in the Xfinity Series as a part-time driver for JR Motorsports. He joined Stewart-Haas Racing for the 2022 season, serving as a backup driver for all affiliated teams. He took Cole Custer’s spot in the No. 41 Ford Mustang in 2023 and continued to drive the Cup Series full-time until the 2024 season, when he joined Stewart-Haas Racing. Preece has four top five finishes, ten top finishes, and one pole position in his 187 NASCAR Cup Series races. He has five Top 5 finishes and one Top 5 during the 2024 season with Stewart-Haas Racing. Brad Keselowski of the NASCAR Cup Series, Jack Roush, and the Fenway Sports Group make up the ownership group of RFK Racing, which is starting its 38th season in NASCAR.
