Following a rookie’s unexpected benching, the Kansas City Chiefs sign an emergency Pro Bowl player.

A week after healthy scratching a second-round selection prior to their Week 11 defeat to the Buffalo Bills (30–21), the Kansas City Chiefs are adding a Pro Bowl player to their roster.

This season, the Chiefs have experienced problems at left tackle. Before he became a free agent this spring, the club had Donovan Smith anchored the left side of the line the previous season.

The Chiefs decided to start second-year offensive tackle Wanya Morris after head coach Andy Reid said earlier in the week that rookie Kingsley Suamataia had regressed in his progress this season. Reid stated that Brett Veach, the general manager, will monitor the addition of a seasoned left tackle.

“In an agreement with AMDG Sports, the Chiefs are paying former Pro Bowl LT DJ Humphries $2 million with a maximum value of $4.5 million for the remainder of the season,” Rapoport wrote on X. “This time of year, big money. (Rewritten to make it clearer.)
