This week, Uchenna Nwosu will rejoin the Seattle Seahawks for practice.
RENTON, WA The Seattle Seahawks are getting closer to having pass rusher Uchenna Nwosu return to the team after their greatest defensive showing of the year.
Nwosu may rejoin the club for practice as early as Tuesday, head coach Mike Macdonald stated on Monday. Due to a thigh ailment, Nwosu has been out since early October.
“I think the plan is we’ll have him out there tomorrow in some capacity,” said Macdonald. I can’t tell you how long it will take to return to play. After the (practice) window opens, we’ll proceed accordingly.”
This season, Nwosu has only made one appearance for Seattle. Nwosu missed the first four games of the season due to a knee injury he acquired in the team’s last preseason game against the Cleveland Browns on a dubious block by guard Wyatt Teller. Nwosu only played 20 snaps when he returned to action in Week 5 against the New York Giants before being sidelined once more due to a thigh issue.
Nwosu will not play this week as he gradually returns to playing, according to Macdonald. The ability of Nwosu to recover in time to play on Sunday against the New York Jets is further impacted by the rearranged schedule for the week around Thanksgiving.
After Nwosu is formally declared to return from injured reserve, he will have 21 days to practice with the squad.
Due to an injury sustained to his right ankle during the victory against Arizona, guard Anthony Bradford is anticipated to miss at least this week’s game against the Jets.
Bradford did not sustain a fractured bone in the play that knocked him out of the starting lineup in the first quarter, according to Macdonald’s post-game statement. Bradford ultimately made his way back to the sidelines with a crutch and a walking boot on his right leg after being carried to the locker room for assessment.
For the rest of the game against the Cardinals, Christian Haynes took Bradford’s place in the starting lineup; however, Macdonald stated that fellow rookie Sataoa Laumea will get a chance to try out for that position during practice this week.
“Sataoa is someone that we’re going to take a long look at as well,” Macdonald stated. “But we want Christian to develop even though he played winning football for us. Man, keep expanding. Every week, you must demonstrate it in preparation and on the practice field. However, he is currently deserving of all the praise.
Laumea has not played in any of Seattle’s games this season. If he plays against the Jets on Sunday, it will be his first game action since the preseason.
“Just a guy that continues to work his craft and take it day-by-day,” Macdonald described Laumea while speaking of him. He is capable of playing both guard positions. He’s just a guy who we can’t wait to come in and watch his daily approach. It’s another instance of ‘Hey, what are you going to do with it?’ now that he has a chance. Leave for work.
