Caleb Williams criticizes a Lions defender for a contentious tackle.
Interestingly, however, Williams, who was evaluated in the medical tent, returned to the game without missing a snap and proceeded to toss three touchdowns for the Bears in the second half.
Williams was questioned about his knee after the game, which Chicago lost 23–20, and he went on to criticize Campbell for the play.
According to PFT, Williams stated, “Knee is fine.” It was a weird play. Let’s simply state it that way. The play didn’t particularly appeal to me. I felt like he jumped right at my knee. Thus, I didn’t really understand that.
Williams continued, “I’m definitely a little frustrated about that one.” Knees are nice. There is nothing wrong with it. I believe I’ve only been bruised. The play was quirky, though.
Williams was an active runner on the play and did not slip or otherwise give himself up, so it makes sense that he would not have appreciated the tackle, but it was a totally clean hit. Because of his poor time management, which ultimately lost the Bears the game, rookie Williams was also his own worst enemy.
