Following The Vikings’ Victory In Week 14, A Defender Sends A Strong Message To The Lions-Obsessed NFL.
The Minnesota Vikings increased their season record to 11-2 after thrashing the Atlanta Falcons by 21 points on Sunday. They are now in the running for the NFC top spot, directly behind the Detroit Lions.
The Lions have garnered a lot of national media attention this season due to their 12-1 record, and with good reason. However, following this weekend’s resounding victory, Vikings cornerback Byron Murphy Jr. told NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero how he wants the team to become more of a topic of conversation going forward.
“You guys need to start discussing us. We’re sick of hearing about Detroit. We’ll see them shortly, but for now, we’re just focused on every Sunday. We’ll get to that [Week 18] game someday. However, because we’re currently on one, speak about the Vikings right now.”
The Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions game in week 18 is expected to be a classic in the NFC North.
The Lions and Vikings’ Week 18 showdown in Detroit has the potential to be a major game with a lot on the line given how the season has gone so far.
In addition to possibly deciding the NFC North title, the game may also decide which club will have home-field advantage and a bye in the 2024 playoffs starting round.
Since the Vikings will be playing in the Lions’ home stadium in Week 18, it is reasonable to assume that every player in the locker room will be eager to exact revenge for the two-point victory Detroit had against Minnesota in Week 7.
We can all agree that Murphy is correct for the time being. Given everything they’ve accomplished thus far this season, Minnesota certainly merits much more praise.
The Vikings likely prefer to go unnoticed at times, but like most people, they also like to be commended for their achievements.
Minnesota is currently tied for the second-best record in the NFL after defeating a division leader by 21 points on Sunday. Before this weekend, the Vikings may have been underappreciated, but Sunday’s game ought to have been a wake-up call.
