Breaking: Following the Red Wings season, a longtime Detroit Red Wings veteran announced his retirement today.
At the conclusion of the Detroit Red Wings season, longtime Detroit sportscaster John Keating declared his retirement.
Previously known as Bally Sports Detroit and Fox Sports Detroit, Keating is a member of the FanDuel Sports Network.
Keating claimed he made the choice in the middle of the Tigers season this past July in a statement that was put on X.
“It was wistful getting through the end of the Tigers season and now that the Red Wings season is ongoing, it just feels like it’s time to share the decision,” he stated. “It came down to this: There haven’t been enough sunsets with the family in Grand Haven on the Lake Michigan coast.”
Before moving to Detroit, Keating worked in Denver and Grand Rapids.
The season’s last game for the Detroit Red Wings is scheduled on April 17; the last home game is scheduled for April 14.
