Four-Time All-Star Slugger Pete Alonso Predicted To Sign With NL Contender
Pete Alonso Announced The Signing Of Four-Time All-Star Slugger Who Agreed Deal Till 2027 Done Deal
The New York Mets made a tremendous impact this winter by signing outfielder Juan Soto to a record-breaking $765 million deal. Will president of baseball operations David Stearns re-sign first baseman Pete Alonso to safeguard Soto in the lineup? Alonso’s market hasn’t completely established, partly because some clubs who wanted a first baseman have gone in different paths. Outside of the Mets,
the Seattle Mariners, San Francisco Giants and potentially the Texas Rangers are the only other clubs who could have a big need to replace at first base. While Stearns and club owner Steve Cohen have openly declared they’d prefer to keep Alonso, the business also seems concerned about competing against itself in discussions.
Former major leaguer Carlos Baerga stated the Mets had offered a three-year, $90 million contract that includes numerous opt-outs. Will New York ultimately find a middle ground with its four-time All-Star and local slugger, or will Alonso eventually depart for a new home in 2025 and beyond? Yardbarker’s Colin Cerniglia thinks the right-handed bat will stay in Queens. “Other clubs (New York Yankees and Houston Astros) have filled their first base requirements. Cerniglia stated,
“Alonso’s heart and bat will remain in Queens despite reports of his conflict with the Mets. It would be fascinating to see what sort of financial assurance Alonso receives wherever he signs. According to Spotrac, his market worth will be $174 million in six years. The first baseman could have to accept a lot less this summer, despite allegedly turning down a seven-year, $158 million deal offer in June 2023.
