Just In: Kansas State Key Man Confirm He Want Leave

At Chase Field, Kansas State defeats Rutgers after trailing by 17 points.
PHOENIX (KECY, KYMA) In Thursday’s 35th Annual Rate Bowl at Chase Field, the Kansas State Wildcats defeated the Rutgers Scarlett Knights 44-41 behind three touchdowns from Dylan Edwards.

Edwards ran for 196 yards as part of Kansas State’s 542-yard offensive total.

Kansas State is 9–4 at the end of the season. The Rutgers game ends at 7–6.

Rutgers had a 27–17 lead at the break. Ja’shon Benjamin was hit by Athan Kaliakmanis for a seven-yard touchdown, giving Rutgers its biggest lead of the game, 17 points. Edwards ran for a 65-yard touchdown as KSU retaliated.

Then, immediately following an interception, Avery Johnson scored a Wildcat touchdown to put the score at 34-29 by connecting with Garret Oakley. Rutgers’ lead was increased to 41-29 in the fourth quarter when Antwan Raymond scored a touchdown on a phony “tush push” from one yard out.

Then, to tie the game at one, the Wildcats scored on a touchdown throw from Johnson to Joe Jackson. After the two-point conversion, Edwards’ 36-yard touchdown made it 44-41 and sealed the Wildcat victory.

Johnson caught 15 of 30 passes for 195 yards, three touchdowns, and an interception while playing for KSU.

Edwards ran for two TDs and 196 yards. In addition, he grabbed two receptions for a score and 27 yards.

Kaliakmanis finished 14 of 32 throws for 237 yards, including the interception and the touchdown, for Rutgers.

For 113, Raymond carried the ball 18 times.
