Former Alabama Class of 2022 five-star recruit Jeremiah Alexander will move to Clemson, rejoining fellow five-star standout and high school classmate Peter Woods.
At linebacker, where only coming senior Wade Woodaz and rising sophomore Sammy Brown, a 2024 freshman All-American, have substantial playing history, Alexander, a redshirt sophomore who originally signed with Alabama, offers the Tigers experience, flexibility, and promise.
Clemson wins because of Alexander’s dedication. In order to demonstrate his agility and versatility, the 6’2, 245-pound linebacker first played as a defensive end for Bama’s defense before moving from inside to outside linebacker.
Additionally, the relocation rekindles a strong bond established at Thompson High School in Alabaster, Alabama. Alexander solidified his reputation as one of the most accomplished prep athletes in Alabama history by leading the Warriors to several state titles alongside Clemson sophomore defensive lineman Woods. The two of them dominated the defensive line as seniors, with Alexander finishing his 2021 MaxPreps Alabama Player of the Year campaign with 93 tackles, 29 tackles for loss, and 10 sacks.
Alexander only appeared in four games last season as a backup to starters Justin Jefferson, Deontae Lawson (All-SEC), and Jihaad Campbell (All-American) due to an injury that kept him out of the opening three games. He earned action on special teams and collected five total tackles throughout those games.
Alexander’s departure is a calculated move that will strengthen Clemson’s defense. Alexander now joins former Purdue defensive end Will Heldt and SEMO wide receiver Tristan Smith as portal newcomers in Tiger Town, following head coach Dabo Swinney’s change of position on the gateway.
