BREAKING NEWS: Tension Between Daniel Farke and Leeds United Star Player. What Could be the Cause?

Leeds United centre-back Max Wöber is currently sidelined as he recovers from his second knee surgery of the season, facing a tough battle to reclaim his spot in Daniel Farke’s starting lineup.

Leeds are in a strong position in the Championship promotion race, sitting five points ahead of second place and seven clear of the playoff spots after their victory over Sheffield United on Monday night.

With just 12 games remaining, Wöber hopes to return to action in about a month as he works his way back from a recurrence of his previous knee injury, which flared up during international duty.

Farke Still Holding Wöber’s Departure Against Him?

Although Wöber has made limited appearances this season due to injuries, he has shown flashes of quality when available. His standout moments include a solid defensive performance at left-back against Middlesbrough and a goal off the bench in a strong display against Derby County.

However, lingering frustration from fans over his summer 2023 decision to leave pre-season training and join Borussia Mönchengladbach on loan continues to overshadow his contributions.

Reports suggest that Farke has not forgotten Wöber’s choice to play for his former club instead of staying at Leeds, leading to a “tense relationship” between the player and manager. With Wöber’s contract running until 2027, he may need to make a move in the summer to keep his hopes alive of featuring in the 2026 World Cup.

A Tough Road Back for Wöber

Unlike Brenden Aaronson—who has worked to mend his relationship with fans through strong performances—Wöber faces a more difficult path. His position as a centre-back in an already competitive squad, combined with ongoing injury struggles, makes it unlikely he will regain his previous standing anytime soon.

While he was a popular figure when he arrived in January 2023, his departure last summer and recent injury setbacks have made his road to redemption much harder.
