JUST IN: Sacked Nottingham Forest Coach Joins Champions League Club

Steve Cooper may have left Nottingham Forest, but he and his coaching staff will always be remembered for their contributions to the club.

Every time Forest fans see the Premier League badge on their sleeves, they are reminded that Cooper played a crucial role in bringing top-flight football back to the City Ground after a painful 23-year absence.

Despite his achievements, tensions between Cooper and some players emerged during the 2023/24 season. Eventually, club owner Evangelos Marinakis decided to make a change in December 2023, appointing Nuno Espirito Santo as his replacement.

The difference between Espirito Santo and Cooper was immediately noticeable, and with Forest now sitting third in the Premier League, it appears the club’s decision has paid off.

Steve Rands Joins Borussia Dortmund Following Forest Exit

While Cooper was the architect of Forest’s success in the 2021/22 season, he was supported by a strong backroom team.

Assistant manager Alan Tate was a key figure, while Steve Rands played a crucial role in overseeing the team’s analysis. His expertise contributed significantly to Forest’s achievements.

Now, Rands has secured an exciting new role with Borussia Dortmund, where he will be part of the first-team setup. His appointment comes in the same week that former Forest goalkeeping coach Danny Alcock was dismissed by Leicester City.

Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest face Arsenal tonight, aiming to bounce back after recent struggles. A 4-3 loss to Newcastle on Sunday marked their third consecutive away defeat, and Espirito Santo will be eager to turn things around quickly.
