BREAKING NEWS: Steelers Express Interest in Former All-Pro Star

The Pittsburgh Steelers have shown interest in San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel, according to Fox Sports insider Jordan Schultz.

However, Pittsburgh faces competition, as both the Washington Commanders and Houston Texans are pursuing Samuel more aggressively. While the Steelers remain in the mix, they are not currently considered the frontrunners.

At 29 years old, Samuel is coming off one of his least productive NFL seasons. He recorded just over 600 yards last year while dealing with a calf strain that limited his explosiveness. With injuries piling up over his career and the final year of a significant contract extension approaching, the 49ers have granted him permission to explore trade options.

If the Steelers were to acquire Samuel, they would likely offer a late-round draft pick. However, given the possibility that San Francisco could release him outright, Pittsburgh may have the opportunity to sign him as a free agent without surrendering any draft assets.
