JUST IN: Alabama Quarterback  Impresses at NFL combine

Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Jalen Milroe has been a compelling prospect at this week’s NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, fueling speculation about his potential landing spot in the 2025 NFL Draft.

One possible destination for Milroe is a struggling AFC North franchise. The Cleveland Browns have emerged as a team to watch, with head coach Kevin Stefanski confirming they met with the quarterback during the event.

Holding the No. 2 overall pick, the Browns could target Miami’s Cam Ward or Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders. However, if they opt not to select a quarterback with their top pick, Milroe could be in play at No. 33 in the second round. When asked about his meeting with Cleveland, Milroe shared a positive outlook.

“I thought it was a really good meeting,” he said. “It was great to meet the staff, understand their vision, and talk football. It was another opportunity for them to get to know me. Overall, it was a great experience, and I’m excited about building a relationship with the Browns.”

Cleveland is coming off a disappointing 3-14 season and faces uncertainty at quarterback. Deshaun Watson’s $230 million guaranteed contract has become a burden, and with him re-tearing his Achilles in January, the team is searching for a signal-caller to lead them in 2025 and beyond. This situation could provide Milroe with an immediate opportunity to see the field, and he’d have a familiar connection within the organization.

Former Alabama offensive coordinator Tommy Rees, now in his second season with the Browns and recently promoted to offensive coordinator, worked closely with Milroe in college. The quarterback welcomed the possibility of reuniting.

“Coach Rees and I had a great relationship at Alabama,” Milroe said. “During my first year as a starter, he was my offensive coordinator. Playing for him again would be an outstanding opportunity to accomplish special things.”
