A Tottenham Hotspur player, previously labeled a “nuisance,” is now expected to leave the club at the end of the season, according to the latest transfer update.
Tottenham’s Latest Transfer News
Spurs are gearing up for their Europa League clash against AZ Alkmaar on Thursday as they push for silverware this season. While Ange Postecoglou’s side has shown signs of improvement, their recent 1-0 home defeat to Manchester City served as a reality check.
Looking ahead to the summer transfer window, Tottenham have been linked with Monaco’s 21-year-old midfielder Lamine Camara, who is seen as a promising talent. Meanwhile, Barcelona’s Ferran Torres has also emerged as a potential target, with Spurs set to compete with Arsenal for his signature. The Spaniard has struggled for game time at the Camp Nou and could be open to a Premier League return.
Another name on Tottenham’s radar is Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo. The attacker has been one of the Cherries’ standout performers this season, and Spurs reportedly view him as a valuable addition to strengthen their frontline.
Timo Werner Set to Leave Spurs
According to The Mirror, Tottenham have decided against making Timo Werner’s loan move permanent, opting not to activate the £8.5 million purchase clause. Those close to the German forward expect him to return to RB Leipzig in the summer before assessing his next move.
Despite earning £165,000 per week, Werner has failed to impress, going goalless in 18 Premier League appearances. While Roy Keane has previously praised his ability to disrupt defenses, saying, “He’s a nuisance to play against… he does affect games, he is a threat,” his lack of end product has made him a liability for Spurs.
Additionally, manager Ange Postecoglou openly criticized Werner’s commitment earlier in the season, calling his performance in a 1-1 draw with Rangers “not acceptable.” This suggests the Australian coach may have already decided he wasn’t part of his long-term plans.
Unless Werner dramatically improves before the season ends, he will likely leave Spurs with a disappointing reputation, bringing a swift end to his time in north London.
