While Club Brugge bowed out of the Champions League against Aston Villa last night, several Premier League clubs were at Villa Park scouting a rising midfield talent.
According to Belgian outlet Voetbal Primeur, Nottingham Forest joined Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham, Newcastle, Brentford, and Brighton in tracking Ardon Jashari.
At just 22 years old, Jashari has already caught the attention of Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, who may consider bringing him to the Etihad.
A defensive midfielder, Jashari has impressed in his first season with Club Brugge after moving from Swiss club FC Luzern last summer. He has made 40 appearances in the 2024/25 season, scoring twice and providing five assists while mainly playing as a deep-lying midfielder.
High Praise from Steven Defour
Former Burnley midfielder Steven Defour has been full of praise for Jashari, highlighting his ability to thrive at the top level.
“He is the best player in our league and possibly one of the best in the last decade,” Defour said. “His energy, aggression, and composure on the ball make him stand out. He reads the game exceptionally well and has the technical quality to compete at the highest level.”
For Nottingham Forest, signing Jashari would be a major boost, especially if they secure Champions League qualification. Club Brugge’s unexpected run to the tournament’s last 16 has showcased his ability on the big stage. If Forest moves quickly, they could gain an edge over their rivals in securing his signature.
