BREAKING NEWS: Daniel Farke Faces Medical Warnings Ahead of Leeds United vs. QPR Clash

Leeds United reclaimed the top spot in the Championship with a 2-0 victory over Millwall at Elland Road on Wednesday.

Sheffield United had briefly led the table after a 1-1 draw with Bristol City on Tuesday, but Leeds capitalized on their game in hand, moving to the summit with just nine matches remaining. Their strong position has fueled optimism among fans for a return to the Premier League.

The Whites took the lead early when Millwall defender Jake Cooper accidentally put the ball into his own net. Leeds midfielder Ao Tanaka then sealed the win in the 85th minute with a second goal.

Farke Addresses Injury Concerns Ahead of QPR Clash

Leeds have a chance to extend their lead at the top to five points when they face QPR on Saturday, as Sheffield United won’t play until Sunday against city rivals Sheffield Wednesday.

Leeds’ Last Five Results:

  • Sunderland (H) – 2-1 W
  • Sheffield United (A) – 3-1 W
  • West Brom (H) – 1-1 D
  • Portsmouth (A) – 0-1 L
  • Millwall (H) – 2-0 W

Ahead of the crucial trip to Loftus Road, Farke provided an update on his squad, as reported by Beren Cross on X. He stated that there were no major injury concerns:

“Every player from last night appears to be available. Isaac Schmidt felt unwell and missed the Millwall match but trained today and could be in contention this weekend.”

However, Farke acknowledged warnings from the club’s medical staff regarding player fatigue:

“The medical team always expresses concerns and provides warnings about players in the red zone, but I make the final decisions. They give data and opinions on recovery, but it’s my responsibility to choose the team. If things go wrong, they can’t be blamed.”

After a slight dip in form—drawing 1-1 with West Brom on March 1 and losing 1-0 to Portsmouth last Sunday—Leeds bounced back with their commanding win over Millwall. This momentum will give them confidence heading into their match against QPR.

Leeds previously secured a 2-0 win over Marti Cifuentes’ side in November, with goals from Jayden Bogle and Joel Piroe. Even on the road, the West Yorkshire club is expected to prove too strong for QPR as they push for automatic promotion to the Premier League.
