JUST IN:Nottingham Forest Faces Key Contract Decisions Ahead of Summer Transfer Window

As the season nears its end, Nottingham Forest is preparing for a crucial summer transfer window. If all goes well, the club could be planning for European football, with a spot in the Champions League still within reach. Regardless of how the season finishes, important contract decisions need to be made.

While the January transfer window was relatively quiet, securing new deals for key players Chris Wood and Murillo was a major move. Wood, who was set to become a free agent, has extended his stay until 2027. Murillo, originally under contract until 2028, is now signed through 2029.

This summer, Forest will need to address the contracts of several other players. Here’s a look at those whose deals are expiring soon:

Wayne Hennessey

Aside from signing young defender Tyler Bindon and loaning him back to Reading, Forest’s only other winter addition was re-signing backup goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey on a short-term deal.

Ola Aina

Aina’s contract is set to be automatically extended for another year, but discussions about a longer deal are ongoing. Manager Nuno Espírito Santo is confident an agreement will be reached, and Aina has expressed his desire to stay. However, finalizing the extension quickly should be a priority.

Harry Toffolo

Toffolo has been a popular figure at the club, both on and off the pitch, over the past three years. He has been a reliable performer when given the chance and is known for his professionalism and team-first attitude.

However, he has seen little game time this season, and with left-back likely to be an area of focus in the summer, a departure seems probable. If he moves on, it will be with the club’s best wishes.

Willy Boly

Forest has the option to extend Boly’s contract by another year, but there are rumors of a potential move to Saudi Arabia. Al Riyadh, managed by former Forest boss Sabri Lamouchi, has been linked with the defender.

Boly will play an important leadership role in the dressing room as Forest pushes for European qualification. However, a summer exit would not be surprising.

Alex Moreno

Earlier this season, making Moreno’s loan move from Aston Villa permanent seemed like an easy decision. He was a regular starter and performing well.

However, he has since fallen down the pecking order behind Neco Williams. With Forest holding an option to buy but Moreno also linked with a return to Real Betis, his future remains uncertain.

Jonathan Panzo

Since joining in January 2022, Panzo has struggled to break into the first team, making just one senior appearance while being sent out on multiple loan spells.

Currently at Rio Ave—another club owned by Evangelos Marinakis—injuries have limited his playing time. At 24, he needs regular football, which seems unlikely at Forest. A summer move would likely be the best outcome for both parties.

With several key decisions ahead, Nottingham Forest’s summer transfer window will play a vital role in shaping the club’s future.
