JUST IN:Mavericks Send Anthony Davis to G League for Rehab

The Dallas Mavericks have assigned Anthony Davis to the Texas Legends, their G League affiliate, to help him regain game shape as he recovers from a strained left adductor. The 10-time All-Star will practice with the team and participate in full-court scrimmages to prepare for his return.

Davis, who was the centerpiece of the Mavericks’ blockbuster trade involving Luka Doncic, has been sidelined since February 8. In his only game for Dallas so far, he played 31 minutes and delivered an impressive performance—26 points, 16 rebounds, 7 assists, and 3 blocks—before exiting with an injury.

Although there were internal discussions about shutting him down for the season, Davis is determined to return to the court.

The Mavericks also assigned guard Jaden Hardy to the Legends as he rehabs a sprained ankle that has kept him out for the past seven games.

Injuries have plagued Dallas throughout the season, often leaving them barely able to meet the league’s eight-player minimum. In Sunday’s loss to the Philadelphia 76ers, the team was particularly short-handed. Additionally, two-way players Kessler Edwards and Brandon Williams are nearing their NBA game limit, which could further strain the roster.

Despite having an open roster spot and qualifying for a hardship exception, salary cap restrictions prevent the Mavericks from signing even a 10-day contract.
