BREAKING: Steelers Expected to Draft 81-TD Quarterback for the Future

The Pittsburgh Steelers are still searching for a long-term solution at quarterback. While they have been heavily linked to Aaron Rodgers, there is no concrete plan in place for the future.

Even if Pittsburgh does acquire Rodgers, his time with the team would likely be short-lived, lasting only a year or two. That makes finding a young quarterback to build around a top priority moving forward.

With the 2025 NFL Draft just over a month away, several options are on the table for Pittsburgh. In a recent projection, the Steelers are predicted to select their future franchise quarterback.

Ian Valentino of A to Z Sports has projected that Pittsburgh will take Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart with the No. 21 overall pick.

“The prospect of bringing Justin Fields back after an encouraging stint in 2024 is a positive for Pittsburgh, but throwing one dart at the position isn’t enough,” Valentino wrote. “Jaxson Dart has separated himself as the QB3 with his pro-ready accuracy, confidence, experience, and athleticism. He doesn’t have high upside, but being a steady, borderline Pro Bowler could be enough to help the Steelers compete for a Super Bowl.”

Dart has been projected as high as No. 7 overall, meaning there’s a chance he won’t be available when Pittsburgh is on the clock.

During the 2024 college football season at Ole Miss, Dart completed 69.3% of his passes for 4,279 yards, 29 touchdowns, and six interceptions. He also added 495 rushing yards and three scores on the ground.

NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein has drawn an interesting comparison for Dart, likening him to Gardner Minshew—a player known for his confidence and playmaking ability.

If Dart is still available at No. 21, he could be the long-term answer the Steelers need at quarterback.
