Anthony Elanga has been at the center of attention following his stunning solo goal against Manchester United, but Nottingham Forest’s latest move regarding the winger has taken many by surprise.
Elanga showcased blistering pace—drawing comparisons to Usain Bolt—as he sprinted the length of the pitch to score the decisive goal at the City Ground on Tuesday, getting one over on his former team.
Interestingly, Sporting CP boss Ruben Amorim made a bitter remark suggesting Elanga couldn’t handle the pressure at United—comments that seem misplaced given the 22-year-old’s composure and key role in Forest’s Champions League push.
With Chris Wood sidelined due to injury, Elanga has stepped up as Forest’s primary attacking threat. His performances have reportedly impressed club owner Evangelos Marinakis, who now appears ready to reward him.
Forest Preparing New Contract for Elanga
Newcastle United had shown strong interest in signing Elanga since the summer, hoping to pair him with fellow Swede Alexander Isak on the right flank. However, Elanga has shown a clear passion for playing at Forest, making a move unlikely.
According to the Daily Mail, speculation about his future can be put to rest as Marinakis plans to offer Elanga a new deal in recognition of his standout form.
The report notes: “He speaks Swedish, English, French, and Spanish and has become such a vital part of the dynamic Nuno Espirito Santo has built that Forest never entertained offers from Newcastle—even those reaching £50 million.”
Despite having three years left on his current contract, Elanga is expected to receive a fresh offer in the coming months.
