BREAKING NEWS: Nottingham Forest Hit by Double Injury Setback Ahead of Everton Match – Manager Issues Apology

Nottingham Forest’s preparations for their upcoming clash against Everton have been disrupted by fresh injury concerns, compounding existing struggles in their attacking lineup. Star striker Chris Wood, who has netted 18 goals this season, remains sidelined for a fourth consecutive game. Meanwhile, Taiwo Awoniyi, another key forward, missed the recent defeat to Aston Villa due to a hamstring issue that manager Nuno Espirito Santo initially withheld from reporters during his pre-match press briefing.

Santo later addressed the omission, telling *Nottingham Post*: “He felt his hamstring during the game. When we spoke on Thursday, I was already aware [of the injury]. I apologize for not sharing that earlier. Both Taiwo and Chris are being evaluated daily to determine their availability for the next match.”

Regarding Wood’s recovery, the manager added: “He’s making progress, but it’s a day-by-day assessment. We’ll have a clearer picture after reviewing his scan results. For now, we’ll keep monitoring him.”

The injury woes deepened during the Villa Park defeat as winger Anthony Elanga, who has contributed six goals and nine assists in 35 appearances this season, was substituted at halftime. The Swedish international is set to undergo scans to assess the severity of his knock.

“He wasn’t comfortable on the pitch,” Santo explained. “Unfortunately, we now have another player needing evaluation. We’re hopeful it’s minor, but we’ll know more in the coming days.”

With three critical attackers potentially unavailable, Forest’s depth will be tested as they aim to bounce back against Everton.
