Nottingham Forest have defied expectations this 2024/25 Premier League season, climbing to third place and putting themselves in a strong position to qualify for the Champions League. With a five-point cushion over sixth and only seven games remaining, the dream of European nights at the City Ground is edging closer to reality.
This impressive campaign, led by Nuno Espírito Santo, comes just two years after Forest narrowly avoided relegation following promotion. Now, with continental football within reach, strengthening the squad has become a priority.
Owner Evangelos Marinakis is already planning for the 2025/26 season and is actively targeting reinforcements. One familiar name has resurfaced on Forest’s transfer radar after previously being linked last summer.
Forest Consider £40m Move for Evanilson
As reported by TBR, Nottingham Forest are lining up a summer move for Evanilson, who has impressed in his debut Premier League season with Bournemouth. The Brazilian forward, signed for £40 million last year, has scored 11 goals in 27 appearances, making him the club’s second-highest scorer behind Justin Kluivert.
Forest were previously in the running for the 25-year-old before his switch to the Vitality Stadium. With Taiwo Awoniyi potentially on his way out, Nuno is keen to bring in new attacking options. However, Forest aren’t alone in their interest—Newcastle United and Aston Villa are also reportedly eyeing the striker.
Bournemouth’s stance on parting with their frontman remains uncertain, but Evanilson is viewed as a strong alternative to another high-profile target.
Evanilson as a Strong Alternative to Gyokeres
Forest are also tracking Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres, who has enjoyed a stellar season in Portugal. However, the Lisbon-based club are demanding £60 million for the Swedish forward. Evanilson, therefore, could present a more financially viable yet high-quality option, with some considering him a “world-class” alternative.
