After a recent glimpse of life without Chris Wood, Nottingham Forest are reportedly preparing a major summer move for a prolific striker with an £80 million release clause.
Forest Eye Successor to Veteran Striker
Despite Chris Wood enjoying a strong season, questions linger over how much longer the 33-year-old can lead the line at top form. His age only enhances his achievements, but it also underscores the need for Nottingham Forest to plan for the future — especially if they aim to juggle Premier League duties with potential European competition next season.
Premier League Golden Boot Contenders:
- Mohamed Salah – 27
- Erling Haaland – 21
- Alexander Isak – 20
- Chris Wood – 18
- Bryan Mbeumo – 16
Several strikers have already been linked with Forest, including Napoli star Victor Osimhen. A move for the Nigerian would be a blockbuster signing, and while it may seem unlikely, the promise of European football could make the City Ground an appealing destination.
Forest Join Race for Benfica’s Vangelis Pavlidis
According to The Boot Room, Forest are now eyeing Benfica striker Vangelis Pavlidis as a top target. The Greek international has attracted interest from Premier League rivals Newcastle United and Everton, but Forest are keen to join the race.
The 26-year-old forward reportedly has a hefty £80 million release clause, and Benfica are expected to hold firm on that valuation. Whether Forest are willing to meet the price remains to be seen, but Pavlidis is being viewed as a long-term replacement for Wood.
His case for a big move was strengthened recently when he made history by netting a hat-trick against Porto at the Estadio do Dragão – the first Benfica player to ever achieve that feat. That performance brought his season tally to 24 goals, six more than Wood’s 18.
With his goal-scoring prowess and rising profile, Pavlidis could be the ideal fit for Nuno Espírito Santo’s plans — if Forest are ready to break the bank.
