Bruins’ Brass Faces Media – But Where’s Joe Sacco?

The Boston Bruins will hold their end-of-season press conference on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m., marking their first media availability since their disappointing 2024-25 campaign ended with a 5-4 overtime loss to the New Jersey Devils eight days ago.

Fans hoping for major front-office changes will be disappointed—CEO Charlie Jacobs recently reaffirmed his support for General Manager Don Sweeney and President Cam Neely, confirming both will remain in their roles. All three executives will attend Wednesday’s press conference, but one key figure will be notably absent: interim head coach Joe Sacco.

Typically, the Bruins’ head coach participates in both the beginning and end-of-season media sessions, but Sacco was not listed among Wednesday’s attendees. The 55-year-old took over as interim coach six weeks into the season after Sweeney fired Jim Montgomery. While the team showed promise early under Sacco, their performance declined sharply after the New Year, ultimately costing them a playoff spot—compounded by Sweeney’s trade deadline moves.

Sacco’s absence speaks volumes. Though no official decision has been announced regarding his future, it’s widely expected he won’t return as head coach when training camp opens in September. While his missing presence at the press conference is unusual, it likely signals an impending coaching change.

As for what Jacobs, Sweeney, and Neely will say? Don’t expect any surprises.
