DONE DEAL: Texas A&M Sets Bold New Course with Bucky McMillan’s Contract Approval…

In a move signaling a new era for Texas A&M basketball, the university’s Board of Regents has officially approved a five-year contract for newly appointed head coach Bucky McMillan. The decision came during an executive session and was backed unanimously, reflecting strong confidence in McMillan’s vision for the program.

The meeting also marked a leadership change, with Robert L. Albritton named the new chairman of the Board of Regents. Albritton wasted no time making his enthusiasm known, offering high praise for McMillan’s approach.

“I think that this basketball coach is going to bring a style of basketball that has never been seen at A&M,” Albritton said. “It’s going to be more of the run-and-gun and really just a fun form of basketball that I think will attract a lot of good players because it’s really mirroring what the NBA is doing as far as style of play. So, we’re very excited about that.“

McMillan, known for his high-octane offense and player development, is expected to inject fresh energy into the program. With $7 million available for NIL and revenue-sharing this season, the Aggies are positioning themselves to be competitive in both recruiting and retention—key components in today’s evolving college basketball landscape.

As Texas A&M embraces a faster-paced identity on the court, the administration’s commitment to innovation and excitement signals a bold pivot for the program’s future. Can McMillan turn that vision into wins? The spotlight is officially on.
