Nottingham Forest have managed their squad effectively this season, with the team currently sitting comfortably in fourth place with just five games remaining. While Nuno Espírito Santo has largely relied on a consistent starting eleven, he has also demonstrated smart rotation—a notable improvement compared to previous campaigns.
If Forest secures Champions League football for next season, significant squad changes are expected, including high-profile signings. Players like Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo have been linked, but new arrivals would likely mean departures as well.
Wilson Questions Ibrahim Sangaré’s Future
Ibrahim Sangaré joined Forest from PSV in 2023, with part of the Brennan Johnson transfer fee funding his move. However, injuries and a bout of malaria have disrupted his adaptation to English football, limiting his impact in the Premier League.
Former Forest defender Kelvin Wilson believes Sangaré’s time at the club may be over, suggesting that Espírito Santo may not see him as a key player. Speaking on the Forest Focus podcast, Wilson said:
“In my opinion, his time at Forest is done—I don’t think he’ll be here next season. Whether it’s injuries or something else, he hasn’t settled. Nuno sees him in training every day, and while I’m not saying his attitude is bad, there’s clearly a reason he’s not playing. I doubt we’ll see much more of him.”
Should Forest Keep Sangaré?
With European football potentially on the horizon, Forest may need a deeper squad to handle the demands of multiple competitions next season. Sangaré’s experience in European football with PSV could prove valuable, even if he isn’t a regular starter.
Ultimately, his future may depend on whether he is willing to accept a reduced role—or if Forest receives a suitable offer in the upcoming transfer window.
