‘Intense’ episode revealed by Carlos Corberan confirms West Brom’s exit

Carlos Corberan, who made an emotional homecoming to Valencia from West Bromwich Albion, acknowledged that the past four days around Christmas have been “intense.” After two years and two months in charge, Corberan departed Albion just outside of the Championship play-off spots after winning his farewell game as manager against Bristol City on Sunday.

However, Valencia, his childhood club, contacted Corberan the day before Christmas Eve on the prospect of taking Ruben Baraja’s place, who had just been fired that day. When Real Madrid visits Valencia after the winter break, they will be four points outside of safety and in the relegation zone of La Liga.
