Chad Baker-Mazara has become one of the most polarizing figures in college basketball, largely due to Auburn’s continued success. He isn’t shy about talking a big game—and he backs it up on the court.
However, the 6-foot-7 senior believes his most recent technical foul is a result of the Southeastern Conference holding a grudge against him.
This season, Baker-Mazara is averaging 12.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game for the Tigers. He also leads the team in technical fouls. The former San Diego State transfer is known for his on-court chatter, engaging with opponents, opposing fans, and officials in a way that is both playful and intense.
Earlier this month, Oklahoma fans got a firsthand experience of his fiery personality in Norman. Alabama fans also directed their energy toward him during Auburn’s rivalry loss in Tuscaloosa last weekend.
Then came Wednesday night. After sinking a corner three against Arkansas, Baker-Mazara turned toward the Razorbacks’ bench and popped his jersey. Officials wasted no time in calling a technical foul.
