Tyler Lockett’s NFL Future: Could 2025 See the Veteran Receiver in New Colors?

As the NFL Combine buzz heats up in Indianapolis, subtle signs are emerging that veteran wide receiver Tyler Lockett may continue his career in 2025 — but possibly not with the Seattle Seahawks. Lockett, who has spent his entire nine-year career in Seattle, could be preparing for a fresh start elsewhere as the franchise enters a transitional phase.

Reports from league insiders at the combine suggest that multiple teams have expressed interest in Lockett, should he become available. While no official trade or release has been announced, the Seahawks are expected to undergo a roster reshuffle under new head coach Mike Macdonald, making Lockett’s hefty cap hit a potential casualty.

The 31-year-old receiver remains one of the most reliable pass-catchers in the league, having posted five consecutive seasons with over 900 receiving yards before 2023. However, with Seattle eyeing a younger offensive core around DK Metcalf and Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Lockett’s future with the team appears uncertain.

Lockett’s professionalism, leadership, and production would make him an attractive addition for teams seeking a veteran presence in the receiving corps. Contenders like the Kansas City Chiefs, New England Patriots, and Baltimore Ravens have been speculated as potential landing spots.

Despite the whispers of a looming departure, Lockett has remained tight-lipped about his future, focusing instead on preparing for the 2024 season. However, as the NFL offseason unfolds, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the longtime Seahawk donning new colors for the first time in his career come 2025.
