JUST IN: Steelers Strike Jewel  as Trade to Acquire Former Rumored Target Finalized

A familiar name linked to the Steelers in past trade discussions could once again emerge as a top target.

Last offseason, while Brandon Aiyuk was the primary trade focus for Pittsburgh, the team explored other options, including Courtland Sutton. Despite strong interest, the Denver Broncos ultimately held onto Sutton, helping them secure a playoff spot.

Sutton remains under contract through 2026, but with a new deal likely on the horizon, his availability could resurface. Last offseason, his desire for an extension fueled trade speculation, and if Denver doesn’t lock him into a long-term deal, he may push for a move elsewhere. Acquiring Sutton would bolster the Steelers’ offense, but navigating his contract situation could be a challenge.

Broncos insider Benjamin Allbright recently suggested Denver might be open to dealing Sutton.

“I think Pittsburgh’s looking to add a receiver, not subtract one. I would not be surprised if the Broncos jettison Courtland Sutton, to see Sutton and Pickens pair up on the outside there in Pittsburgh.”

Trading for a proven receiver is an appealing prospect, but the cost remains a key factor. With Sutton in the final stages of his contract, his trade value could be lower, yet Pittsburgh would likely need to commit to new deals for both Sutton and George Pickens. This financial commitment might make them hesitant to pay a premium in a trade.

Steelers’ Trade Proposals for Broncos WR Courtland Sutton

Steelers Opt for a Proven Receiver Over Draft Uncertainty

With a weaker wide receiver class in the upcoming draft, Pittsburgh may be better off addressing its needs via trade or free agency. While drafting a receiver remains an option, investing a mid-round pick in a proven player like Sutton could be a smart move. Without an immediate contract extension included, questions about his long-term future would remain, but this trade would provide an instant solution to Pittsburgh’s receiving struggles.

Sutton would be a strong complement to Pickens, capable of taking on a larger role if injuries arise. Fans would likely embrace this acquisition, knowing the team could sort out his contract details later.

Steelers and Broncos Swap Receivers in a Mock Trade

A potential trade could see Pittsburgh and Denver exchanging wide receivers along with late-round draft picks. In this scenario, the Steelers land a reliable offensive weapon, while the Broncos receive a younger player with upside under head coach Sean Payton’s system.

Though some fans might be reluctant to part with Calvin Austin III, his long-term ceiling appears limited, and he is also set to hit free agency in 2026. Sutton, on the other hand, is a proven playmaker who could immediately address Pittsburgh’s offensive issues. If the Steelers can land him while only moving back slightly in the draft, this trade could be a steal.
