Rangers may soon see a first-team player depart on loan as the transfer window remains open.
Barry Ferguson, who has replaced Philippe Clement as interim manager, will oversee squad decisions until the end of the season. However, the club has yet to appoint a permanent manager.
Leon King Set for Queen’s Park Loan Move
According to the Daily Record (28 February), Scottish Championship side Queen’s Park have submitted a bid to sign Leon King on loan.
Queen’s Park made headlines earlier this season after eliminating Rangers from the Scottish FA Cup. Now, they are looking to secure the young defender’s services until the end of the season.

Due to limited game time, Rangers are open to letting King leave on a temporary basis, with Ferguson approving the move. The defender has struggled for minutes, with Robin Propper, John Souttar, Leon Balogun, and Clinton Nsiala ahead of him in the pecking order.
Despite his lack of action this season, King has Champions League experience and has featured in a few first-team matches under Clement.
Opportunity for Rafael Fernandes at Rangers
King’s potential departure could open the door for Rafael Fernandes to prove his value at Ibrox.
The Portuguese centre-back, who arrived on loan from Lille in January, has been underutilised—making just three appearances, including one start in the Scottish Cup loss to Queen’s Park.
Clement’s defensive selection choices left Fernandes on the sidelines, despite inconsistencies at the back, including Nsiala’s struggles and Tavernier’s occasional shift to central defense.
However, with Ferguson now at the helm and willing to make changes, Fernandes has a chance to step up. His athleticism and ball-playing ability could provide a solution to Rangers’ defensive issues. This period will be crucial in determining whether he secures a long-term future at the club before his loan expires.
