BREAKING NEWS: Man City Confirms Injury Blow Ahead of Nottingham Forest Clash

Manchester City has officially confirmed a major injury setback ahead of their Premier League match against Nottingham Forest.

Defender Nathan Ake will be out for an extended period after undergoing surgery on a foot injury, which he himself revealed earlier this week. Ake limped off during City’s FA Cup victory over Plymouth, and manager Pep Guardiola later confirmed that he would be sidelined for a significant amount of time, joining John Stones and Manuel Akanji on the injury list.

On Monday night, Ake shared a hospital bed photo, explaining that he had been struggling with a long-term fracture. City’s statement later acknowledged that the injury has plagued him throughout his career, making this his 11th setback since joining the club in 2020.

Their official statement read:

“Nathan Ake has undergone successful surgery on a fracture in his left foot. The City defender was substituted at half-time during Saturday’s FA Cup fifth-round win over Plymouth at the Etihad Stadium after aggravating a persistent issue that has caused him discomfort throughout his career. He will now rest and recover before beginning his rehabilitation. Everyone at City wishes Nathan a speedy recovery.”

With Ake sidelined, City’s defensive options are limited to Ruben Dias, Abdukodir Khusanov, and Vitor Reis for the upcoming clash against Nottingham Forest. While Akanji and Stones could return in May, no timeline has been given for Ake’s recovery.
