Nottingham Forest have officially made a change to their board of directors, as confirmed by a newly filed document on the Companies House website. The filing states that Ioannis Vrentzos is no longer a director at the club, with the document labeled as a “termination of a director appointment.”
This follows a similar filing last month, which confirmed that co-owner Sokratis Kominakis had also stepped down as a director. Kominakis was part of the consortium led by Evangelos Marinakis that took over the club in May 2017.
These boardroom adjustments are likely aimed at ensuring compliance with UEFA regulations regarding multi-club ownership. The rules prevent clubs under the same ownership or directorship from competing in the same European competition. With Nottingham Forest currently in contention for a Champions League spot under Nuno Espírito Santo, and Marinakis-owned Olympiacos also in the running for European qualification, the changes appear to be a precautionary measure ahead of a potential 2025/26 European campaign.
As it stands, the club’s board at the City Ground consists of chairman Nicholas Randall KC, alongside non-executive directors Jonny Owen, Simon Forster, and Michael Dugher. Vrentzos, who initially joined as chief executive in 2017 when Marinakis took control, had previously stepped away from that role in 2021 but remained on the board until now.
These developments indicate that Nottingham Forest are taking proactive steps to align with UEFA’s competition integrity rules as they push for European football next season.
