Now that the international break is ended, Celtic fans can look forward to the weekend, when Brendan Rodgers leads the Bhoys on a challenging journey to Livingston.
The Celtic manager hopes to get a win against David Martindale’s team to keep Rangers at the top of the Scottish Premiership.
Celtic’s faltering December enabled our competitors to take the league lead, but our recent form leading up to the international break, as well as one player’s recent performances, has thrilled fans.
Nicolas Kuhn has struggled since his £3 million transfer from Rapid Vienna in January. Brendan Rodgers has openly stated why the German winger has failed to find his finest form in a Celtic outfit.
However, strong displays against Livingston and St Johnstone demonstrated why the Celtic boss decided to spend money on the 24-year-old during the winter transfer window.
Brendan Rodgers is thrilled with Nicolas Kuhn.
Now that Kuhn appears to have secured a first-team position, Rodgers tells how much the Celtic winger has pleased him throughout training.
Taking advantage of Hyunjun Yang’s ban, the Celtic boss claims Kuhn now appears to be a ‘different player’ after recuperating from previous health concerns.
Rodgers told Football Scotland, “I can see his growth; he performed admirably against Dundee [in the 7-1 win], and he has been improving every day in training.
“We spoke with him; it wasn’t his fault [the red card against Hearts], but it was regrettable, and he has missed a few games. He’ll be back and feeling terrific, and it allowed us the opportunity to bring Nicolas Kuhn in as well.
“He now appears to have stepped up his game and is looking stronger. He looks like a different player in training now. So it’s been an excellent chance for him.”
As I previously stated, Kuhn has made the most of his opportunity since Yang’s departure from the squad. It will be tough to argue against the German preserving his position this Sunday, but Rodgers now has two in-form wingers.
And at this point in the season, it might be critical as the title battle comes to a conclusion.
