Alabama head football coach Kalen DeBoer has expressed openness to adding new talent through the spring transfer portal window. Following the conclusion of spring practice, DeBoer and his staff are evaluating potential roster additions at key positions.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, DeBoer emphasized that any incoming transfer must align with the team’s identity and values.
“You’re always looking for the right fit—someone who can improve the team and strengthen the roster,” DeBoer said. “We only have a few scholarships available, so we’ll be selective. Any additions must complement our team culture, chemistry, and work ethic.”
DeBoer also shared his satisfaction with the current roster, noting the impact of both freshmen and earlier transfer arrivals.
“I really like the balance of players we’ve brought in,” he said. “Eighteen of the 21 signees from December are already on campus, so they won’t feel like true freshmen this summer. And the transfers have integrated well, stepping up and defining their roles more each day, especially in terms of leadership.”
Still, DeBoer made it clear that if the right player becomes available, Alabama is ready to make a move.
