No Desperation in Green Bay: Gutekunst Says Packers Can Win Without Reaching in Draft

Green Bay Packers General Manager Brian Gutekunst expressed confidence in his team’s current roster, stating that the Packers are already positioned to win—even without adding new talent in the upcoming draft.

“If we had to play next week, I’d feel really good about our roster,” Gutekunst said. “We have what it takes to compete and win across the board. Ideally, as the draft unfolds, we’ll be able to stay patient and take the best available player. That’s the position we’ve prepared ourselves to be in.”

When asked whether he expects his first-round pick to contribute immediately, Gutekunst acknowledged the appeal of instant impact but emphasized that it’s not a necessity.

“Of course, you’d love that,” he said. “But the transition to the NFL is tough—it’s rarely seamless. A lot depends on opportunity. While early contributions are great, they aren’t always guaranteed.”

The Packers believe the players they select will be joining a roster capable of contending for a championship.
