Celtic have issued a statement following their manager’s suspension for one match for questioning John Beaton’s competency during a post-match interview.
Under Beaton’s leadership, Celtic had extraordinary VAR interventions at Tynecastle. The handball ruling that awarded Hearts a penalty was particularly questionable.
Brendan Rodgers called it out, and the SFA responded by charging him with insulting officials.
Since then, Celtic has stated that they would contest the accusation and offer their complete support behind Brendan Rodgers. They didn’t, and he was given a one-game suspension, which means the Celtic manager will be able to coach in the Glasgow derby.
However, the club remains dissatisfied, believing that their guy should have received no punishment.

Following a hearing by the SFA disciplinary tribunal today (Thursday), Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has been suspended for two games. One match is immediate and will apply to this Sunday’s Premiership game against Livingston, while another is suspended until the conclusion of the 2023/24 season.
A Celtic Football Club statement read: “Clearly, we are unhappy with the outcome of today’s hearing, but we will respect the panel’s decision.
“The Manager appeared at the hearing today, and his defence was strong and detailed.
“Like many other clubs, we will continue to press for the highest standards in relation to the VAR process in Scottish football.”
Celtic will now play Livingston without their manager in the technical area. John Kennedy will bear accountability in this case. While it is excellent that Rodgers will be in charge at Ibrox, it will be meaningless if Celtic lose at Livi.
