The League Managers Association has named Martin O’Neill as its next chair. [Live in Leeds]
All managers in the Premier League, Sky Bet Championship, Leagues 1 and 2, and the Barclays Women’s Super League and Championship have their interests represented by the LMA.
O’Neill is renowned for his revolutionary time at Celtic, which started in 2000. Prior to that, the squad was led by Kenny Dalglish and John Barnes. Under his direction, Celtic swiftly ended a run of poor performance, capped off by a decisive 6-2 triumph in his maiden Old Firm game.
His debut year culminated with a domestic triple crown, Celtic’s first since Jock Stein’s in 1968–69. Under O’Neill’s leadership, his team made notable progress in European tournaments, notably a spectacular run to the 2003 UEFA Cup Final in Seville, and they retained the league championship the following year.
One of the most successful managers in Celtic history, O’Neill’s time there was characterized by a string of victories, including three League championships, three Scottish Cups, and a League Cup.
