Future plans for Celtic’s £4 million objective, Rangers’ planned double departure, and Hibs’ upcoming appointment most recent
Future considerations about the £4 million objective for Celtic
Mathias Kvistgaarden has been linked to Celtic for the last two transfer windows, but the deal might finally materialize this summer as Brondby manager Jesper Sorensen said a departure may be imminent. The Danish striker has helped his team win the Superliga championship this season with 10 goals and seven assists, but he hasn’t played since suffering a knee injury during a 2-1 victory against FC Copenhagen at the beginning of the month. When asked if the £4 million Celtic target may have played his final game for the team, Sorensen said, “with a smile on his face,” indicating that he is unlikely to play again this season. That’s a valid question, he told Tipsbladet. Better not to speculate on it, please. Hopefully not, but time will tell. I’m not entirely sure what the future holds.”
Rangers on cards for a double exit.
According to sources in Turkey, Trabszonspor is getting closer to signing John Lundstram and Borna Barisic from the Rangers. The Ibrox duo’s contracts expire at the conclusion of the current campaign, but manager Philippe Clement has said in the past that he intends to negotiate a new deal with Lundstram. The Croatian international is scheduled to conclude his six-year tenure at Rangers this summer, but according to Turkish publication Fanatik, negotiations to bring him in have already achieved a “happy ending”. Additionally, they state that Lundstram, 30, has rejected the first contract offer given to stay at Ibrox and that the Super League team is attempting to come to a “agreement in principle” with him.
Hibs notices a new appointment
A report claims that Hibs are considering hiring a new technical director this summer. Following a £6 million investment by Bournemouth owner Bill Foley to acquire a partial stake in the Easter Road club, the Leith side is reviewing every aspect of their football operations. After the “unacceptable” failure to seal a spot in the Premiership’s top six, manager Nick Montgomery is under pressure to improve outcomes between now and the end of the season. The Edinburgh Evening News reports that club executives are considering candidates for the new general job, which would be modeled after Bournemouth’s present structure, including Brian McDermott, director of football. With two board seats, Foley’s Black Knight group hopes to safeguard their investment by having a significant impact on the football department’s operations.
Livi is getting a “huge” makeover.
In an effort to turn around Livingston and get the team back on track for the upcoming season, David Martindale is preparing for a “huge” summer revamp. With five games remaining, the Lions are now 12 points off of the lead in the Premiership and would be formally demoted to the Championship if they lose at home to Ross County, who is currently in second place. Martindale believes the West Lothian team has a chance for a “reset” now that this demoralizing campaign is coming to a conclusion. The Livi manager stated on Wednesday, “At this point, there are probably 14 or 15 players who are not going to be here next year due to being out of contract and maybe through choice as well.” We need to expand on the incredibly solid group I think I have, which consists of 12 or 13 people who will stay. As a group, I believe it’s probably time to move on and consider what the upcoming season has in store for us. There are undoubtedly more players without contracts this year than in previous ones. There are a lot of spinning plates, and we would have probably had a greater chance of maintaining some players if we had secured our Premiership survival. In the summer, there will be a significant renovation. Although I’m sad to see some depart, I’m incredibly happy with the lads that have contracts and will be here next season.
