Author’s Perspective
Collins’s exit was undoubtedly expected. But the fact that the team decided to do this with just one game left in the regular season seemed odd. Maybe the board decided that the Northampton game this coming Saturday at Oakwell was too significant to risk having him in the dugout.
Leven has been an assistant manager much of his career, but he is a very effective coach. Giving him the keys would be a major gamble for the Barnsley management, just as it was for Collins when he joined from the Tampa Bay Rowdies in the previous summer.
