The main conclusion drawn by the majority of commentators regarding the Warriors this season was that they were just not good enough. Even with a healthy Steph Curry, they were unable to generate at crucial times while playing teams like the Pelicans or Kings.
Because of this, a lot of Warriors supporters firmly thought that the team need to have taken a bold action at the trade deadline. Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. disagrees with that evaluation, though.
Regarding the trade deadline, Dunleavy stated, “I think knowing what I know now, there is not anything on the table that I would have done or gone through with.” “Seeing this squad depart, I believe was a good thing. To be honest, I believe that the absence of serious injuries this year is one of its better features. “Hey, Steph only played forty games,” is not relevant. “Things like that: What would this team be like without him?”
Undoubtedly, Dunleavy Jr. feels that the Warriors were just not good enough. Still, he feels that before he could make that judgment, he had to finish this present team.
Dunleavy declared, “We know exactly what this team was.” “There is no denying that it wasn’t good enough. “Well, maybe that wasn’t the right move” or “What if we had kept this guy or that guy?” would not have existed if we had acted before the deadline. We now have the answers to all of those queries, so we can proceed with confidence.”
Although Dunleavy’s points make merit, there is a counterargument that the Warriors weren’t good enough prior to the trade deadline. By that point, it was evident who the crew was and that a more significant step was required.
