Derek McInnes responds to the VAR review as Kilmarnock manager makes Rangers penalty U-turn.
CHECKOUT: Just in Kilmarnock, agent confirms death in accident few hours ago.
Derek McInnes asked legislators to alter the handball rule in response to this morning’s VAR review.
The SFA disclosed ten mistakes made by technicians and officials in the trucks in the most recent quarter, including a penalty awarded to Kilmarnock at Rugby Park against Rangers in February. John Lundstram was found to have handled the ball within the area, and a penalty was awarded and scored.
McInnes believed it was the proper call at the time, but has now altered his mind. When questioned by Sky Sports if VAR needed to be improved in handball situations, Del responded, “I believe it does. Former and present referees argue on what constitutes a penalty and whether an event should be penalized or not. Handball is often as clear as mud.
“The handball here on John Lundstram, I thought it was obvious right away since his hand was raised. But when you watch it again, you can see why Rangers were upset that the penalty was called. When the contact was made, his arm went in. It probably should not have been a penalty. We need better and clearer messaging on a number of these issues, notably handball.
