JUST IN: Green Bay Packers Coach Gives Massive Update On Key Often-Injured Wide Receiver

The Green Bay Packers offensive started slowly in 2023. Despite blowing out the Chicago Bears in Week One, it was painfully clear that they were young, inexperienced, and needed more time to grow as a team. These concerns were exacerbated by the offense’s early injuries to key players, which hampered any necessary improvement.

Christian Watson, a wide receiver, missed the first three games of the season due to a hamstring injury. In that Week One victory, David Bakhtiari was gone for the season due to a knee injury, while running back Aaron Jones hurt his hamstring and was sidelined for a few weeks.

Bakhtiari and Jones are now gone, replaced by Josh Jacobs and Jordan Morgan, two younger (and presumably healthier) players. Watson, on the other hand, stays, and the Packers are optimistic that they have finally discovered the source of his leg problems.

Christian Watson has battled injuries ever since he was drafted by the Green Bay Packers.

Soon after being picked by the Packers in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft, Watson opted to have a minor operation performed on his knee in the hopes of avoiding hamstring issues. This forced him to miss a significant portion of the offseason training and, as fans noticed early on, impacted his connection with then-quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Unfortunately, the operation did not function. Watson suffered a hamstring injury in Week 2 of his rookie season and missed the next game. He subsequently worsened the injury in Week 5, missing two additional games.

Two weeks after returning from injury, Watson had a breakout game against the Dallas Cowboys, catching four catches for 107 yards and three touchdowns. That game marked the start of a streak in which he became the first rookie wide receiver since Randy Moss to score eight touchdowns in four games.

Watson’s debut season ended with 41 catches for 611 yards and seven touchdown grabs. He also scored two running touchdowns.

Watson missed the first three games of the 2023 NFL season due to another hamstring injury. Despite playing the following nine games, he did not begin to show signs of the productive player he was when healthy in 2022 until late in the season.

Watson had five catches for 94 yards and a score against the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving. The next week, against the Kansas City Chiefs, he caught seven passes for 71 yards and two scores.

Unfortunately, he injured his hamstring again during the game. This injury sidelined him for the rest of the regular season.

After Green Bay’s season ended, Watson and cornerback Eric Stokes headed to Madison, Wisconsin, to consult a specialist to figure out why they had so frequent injuries.
