DONE DEAL: Buffalo Bills Receives a Major Boost Following the Sensational Signing of Another Top Star
The Buffalo Bills have signed Dee Delaney, a former Tampa Bay Buccaneers safety, to a one-year contract. Delaney’s signing Thursday morning resulted in the release of wide receiver Quintez Cephus, who had signed with the Bills one day after the draft.
This acquisition signifies One Bills Drive’s continuous attempts to strengthen every aspect of their roster as the offseason progresses.
The 29-year-old undrafted free agent from The Citadel has spent five seasons with three teams: the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Washington Commanders, and, most recently, the Buccaneers.
Delaney played in only three games and had no stats in two seasons with Jacksonville and Washington, in 2018 and 2019, respectively. Delaney did, however, demonstrate his ball-hawking abilities throughout the previous three seasons with Tampa Bay. He had 71 tackles, seven pass deflections, and three interceptions in 49 games.
Buffalo obviously needed more safety depth, and Delaney will most likely compete for a last roster place with Damar Hamlin. Taylor Rapp, Mike Edwards, and rookie second-round pick Cole Bishop are projected to top the safety room in snaps and output.
