If the previous three seasons have taught the world anything about Nottingham Forest, it’s that there’s never a boring moment at the City Ground.

From Steve Cooper’s miraculous turnaround of the Reds from Championship relegation hopefuls to play-off champions, to last season’s rollercoaster top-flight comeback after 23 years, to their current dispute with the Premier League over VAR and player expenditure, the Reds have seldom backed down.

 opponents. Then there’s the City Ground, and a £10 million dispute between the club and the City Council over Forest’s spiritual home. But the most pressing issue for Reds fans still reeling after a nail-biting 2023/24 survival struggle is the future of head coach Nuno Espirito Santo.

The Portuguese former manager of Wolves and Tottenham sailed through a tough season to keep the Reds in the Premier League, but his future at the City Ground is uncertain.

Amid speculation connecting him to German heavyweights Bayern Munich, tales have arisen of the Forest administration weighing their options and running the rule over potential successors. Nuno’s work as Reds manager, as well as his future at the club, received high marks in our end-of-season fan vote, and they have finally spoken.

When asked to judge his performance this season, opinions were varied. Of the roughly 2,000 respondents to our survey, 46% said “good,” 13% said “very good,” and 33% said his efforts were just “average.”

However, 46 percent of respondents agreed the club was correct in sacking promotion manager Cooper, while a decisive 64 percent chose to keep Nuno for next season, with 22 percent “unsure”.

In terms of Forest’s 2023/24 campaign, 62 percent of supporters polled described it as below average, 19 percent as “average,” and 16 percent as no more than they expected.

When asked why they felt Forest had ended themselves in another relegation struggle, 38 percent said it was because the Reds were still establishing themselves in the Premier League. However, 23 percent blamed refereeing and VAR concerns.
Looking ahead to next season, the majority of supporters (54%) expect four to six new additions when the summer transfer market opens, while 42 percent believe one to three new players would be enough.

When asked which positions needed the greatest attention, a new striker received 55 percent of the votes, with a central defender coming in second at 18 percent.

When asked about Forest’s transfer activity during the previous two windows, 46 percent believed it was ordinary, while 33 percent said it was “good”. Another 19% rated it as “poor”.

When asked if they had faith in Evangelos Marinakis’ ownership of the club, 41% of those polled said “generally, yes”. Another 16 percent acknowledged to having “some doubts,” but 36 percent agreed with him and chose “yes, absolutely” in our survey.
